Service Technician Scheduling

Service technicians and skilled tradesmen provide a broad range of services to your customers. Whether they will be working on home appliances, commercial HVAC, pest control, or something else, they need effective scheduling and dispatching to be in the right place at the right time.

What must be considered for effective scheduling?

  • Selecting the right technician with the right skills for the job.
  • Meeting customer time windows.
  • Working on a route that maximizes service time and minimizes drive time.

Service Technician Dispatching

There are many ways to dispatch a service technician. But the end result will be the same: the service technician will receive a list of tasks to be done during the day and may receive additional work during the day, as needed.

How does Strategic Movements communicate with the technician?

  • Printed schedules. In the most simple case, the technician is just given a list of work to be done.
  • Handheld terminal initial download. The schedule created by Strategic Movements can be readiliy downloaded to the technican's device, whether it be a cell phone, tablet or in-vehicle terminal.
  • Handheld terminal additional work. When new same day work is scheduled, the dispatcher may notify the technician using the handheld's interface.
  • Dispatch Board updates. When any work is started or completed, the new status may be sent back to Strategic Movements for display on the Dispatch Board.
  • GPS Proximity. Geofences may be implemented to determine when a technician is very close to the customer's location. This proximity can be used to determine if a technician is on site, all done without any manual input.
